Horse racing tips - pre live trading (stop loss)

Hello guys,

today i would like to talk about something important in horse races. Im not sure its important for every horse trader but its very important to my trading style at least. What is that?

Set a max risk per race. Its a very basic rule but very important one. Basically i have a limit that tells some thing like this " Richard, if you get to this point you dont have another opportunity to enter in the market" but its important to set a max risk that gives you the opportunity to make more then two trades at least.

My personal max risk per race is 10 % of the liability, and i usually use three stakes (liability in geeks toy). For example if i use 3 positions of liability of 300 € my global max risk is 30 €. Most of times i lay horses, so its my personal style and there are traders that use other money management styles.

The idea of this post is to alert you that for most of the trading styles its important to know when to stop, so find the best risk for your style. How do you find it?  Experience in the markets with your trading style.

wow that is a big number. Thanks for all the views and i hope you can take some value from this blog. Thats a good number so i would like to write something special.

Lately a lot of people have been asking whats the secret to have huge profits and be very balanced in trading. Well the magic formula are not magic strategies, the magic formula is SUCCESS = EFFORT + PASSION. When you love something you really want to be the number one, and you have a crazy motivation that drives you to make huge achievements. One thing that im sure is that i really love trading and if you love trading, working hard towards it is pleasure. Most of traders just place a bet and wait and hope that it goes their side. If you dont love trading and continue using it, just stop doing it and find something that you love doing. On the other side of the equation we have effort. Effort is everything. A lot of people asked me how can i have huge profits on horses in just three months. If you do 20 races/day and if you take notes, record your sessions, review your trades and learn from mistakes, isnt your experience 2 times or three times bigger than someone that just trades 20 races/day?

Some important tips for your trading:
Read blogs, talk with people about it and you will get new IDEAS. It's important to have a group of traders that you can talk and share some ideas. I have learned this teaching the students. I teached them and sometimes they shared great ideas and we discussed a lot of subjects. Talk with someone. One good friend that trades for example.

Just like in life trading is about state. If you are in a bad state you will make bad decisions. If you are bored about something just do something that can make you happy. Listen music while trading for example...

Hello guys, How are you?
I have been very busy lately and thats why i rarely post something new.

There is a lot of people that asks me if i continue trading in tennis? Of course i still trade in tennis but not as many matches like some years ago. Lately i have been doing 2 to 3 matches/day, normally the ones with more money and using normally 4 digit stakes. The reason i do this is because at the moment i can profit more in horses in less time and the risk is very small. A normal tennis match can last > 1 hour, and there is a horse race every ten minutes for +- 4 hours and liquidity is not a problem.

Tennis trading tips (common errors that i see)

I see a lot of people trading regular atp/wta tournaments with the same style of grandslams' trading and thats a big error because the conditions are very different. The same for men and women trading.

Another important tip. 15.40 is not as profitable as some years ago because markets changed (more money and knowledge), so dont enter in every 15.40 and create indicators.

Dunk of the year? / tip

February is coming and unfortunatelly i will be one year older (23). More responsability. I am saying this because my tip today is about responsability/discipline. How strong are your decisions? For example when you say, "today im not going to eat bad food" do you respect your decision or just get bored after some minutes and start to eat bad food again? A good way to start to get some discipline is to practise the power of your decisions and dont let any bad thought make your decision more weak. After some time you will get a huge control of your behaviour.
